The Wegkapelle St. Maria in Hillohe stands just outside the small Jura village on the way to Deuerling, under an old linden tree. Hillohe is located on a long hill ridge above the valley of the Schwarze Laber. The simple chapel was built in 1843 and is a rectangular building with a hipped gable roof and a semi-circular choir conclusion; a steeple is absent. Its origin goes back to an application by the farmer Jakob Nadler who wanted to replace an older, dilapidated field chapel. According to tradition, it is a votive chapel: An ancestor, the farmer Georg Nadler, is said to have been spared during field work in a thunderstorm, even though his draft animals were killed by lightning. The furnishings include a wooden altar from 1857, made by the Deuerling master carpenter Franz Rappl. The altarpiece shows a representation of "Maria Hilf" based on the famous model by Lukas Cranach. In 1978, the chapel was renovated in a community effort by the villagers.
