The Bachmühlbach springs are a prominent karst spring of the Franconian Jura and are located west of the Bachmühle. Groundwater emerges from several spring funnels here, forming the perennially water-bearing Bachmühlbach. Immediately after its emergence, the stream is unusually wide and flows calmly in a northeastern direction towards the Schwarze Laber.
The springs are characterized by a very constant waterflow and are a vivid example of the typical karst phenomena of the region. Because of their hydrological importance, their geological peculiarity, as well as their close-to-nature appearance, they are protected as a natural monument. This also includes the immediate surroundings, in order to permanently preserve the sensitive spring system. Bachmühlbach springs
