Description
In Asendorf in Lower Saxony, the privately run Automuseum Asendorf displayed historic automobiles and accompanying objects from technology and everyday life.
The museum began operations in 1980. After a closure in October 2010, there were reports in early 2011 of plans to continue operations under a new operating company. The museum remained open until around 2017. The municipality of Asendorf's tourist information listed the institution as closed from 12 May 2021; the museum's website had offered no content since November 2021.
The exhibition comprised around 60 vehicles documenting technical and design developments between about 1880 and 1970, with a particular focus on small cars. The vehicles were complemented by period accessories and toys, including model cars.
Each year the museum devoted a special focus to a particular theme. Once a year the Asendorfer Oldtimertreffen took place on the museum grounds.
