The villa designed by the Belgian artist Henry van de Velde (1863–1957) for entrepreneur Herbert Eugen Esche (1874–1962) at the beginning of the 20th century is a monument of European significance. The Henry van de Velde Museum showcases exhibits from the extensive collection of the Chemnitz Art Collections: on the ground floor, the former dining room and music salon, largely furnished as originally, give an impression of the original ambiance. On the upper floor of the villa, there is a permanent exhibition in the former sleeping rooms and bathroom, offering insights into the diverse body of work of the versatile artist.
