Description
The association does not operate a stationary museum, but a rolling one. Its mission is to keep historic rail vehicles in working order. Accordingly, the association offers 10 to 15 trips per year with historic special trains departing from Frankfurt, using only public tracks. The association does not own its own rail infrastructure, but it does have nationwide authorization to operate on public tracks. The showpiece is the large steam locomotive 52 6748, which is used for most trips. Tickets can be booked via the website www.historische-eisenbahn-frankfurt.de. The operational site — not a museum, but authentic — can be visited free of charge every Saturday from 12:00 noon, except on trip days.
