Discover industrial heritage in Waltrop
Adorning the impressive towers of the Schiffshebewerk Henrichenburg, the Prussian eagle has been an emblem on the Dortmund-Ems Canal for 125 years. To this day, the steel shiplift maintains its allure. It was originally built to allow passage over a 14-metre-high section of the canal and served in this capacity for over 60 years. Today, it is a popular destination with a water playground and boat tours. The shiplift offers a variety of opportunities to explore life and labour on the water.
