The Rhön under One Roof
The modern regional museum boasts a 100-year history and holds extensive cultural and natural history collections, whose significance extends far beyond the borders of the Rhön.
Over the past 100 years, the museum has undergone numerous transformations, yet the original founding idea remains vibrant: the desire to create a cross-border museum for the entire Rhön.
Visitors can experience the diversity of the Rhön under one roof across four levels (each approximately 250 square meters) of the historic office building. While the engaging theme islands in the new foyer deliberately play with Rhön clichés, the two levels of the permanent exhibition approach the Rhön from different perspectives. In addition to the new permanent exhibition, two special exhibitions per year invite exploration of current art and cultural history topics of the Rhön region.
