The statue of Saint Martin of Tours at the entrance to Deuerling was inaugurated in 2004. St. Martin is depicted as a bishop, surrounded by children - a deliberately chosen motif that stands for charity, protection and social responsibility. With the placement of the sculpture, the entrance to the town was artistically enhanced at the same time. The representation directly ties in with the parish church´s patronage in Deuerling. Saint Martin has been regarded as the patron of the parish for centuries, indicating a long local tradition of venerating Martin.
