Description

The St. Maria Chapel in Heimberg is located on the Blendl estate, directly on the village street of the town located about two kilometers southwest of Deuerling. The small sacred building was erected in 1877 and is a eaves-facing rectangular building with a hipped gable roof and a semi-circular chancel; a square turret with a pyramid-shaped top rises above the roof. The building is the result of a vow: The mother of Mathias Rauscher had promised to build a chapel during a serious illness. After her death, the son fulfilled this wish after his military service, supported by villagers. Inside is a neo-Gothic carpenter´s altar with a picture of Mary in reference to the Altötting Madonna. The chapel still serves as a private chapel for the Blendl family and at the same time performs the function of a small village church.
