Stadtmuseum Norderstedt

Description

The Stadtmuseum Norderstedt has been certified as an extracurricular BNE learning venue since 2013. A key element of the museum’s educational work is its programs for children, young people, and adults, which promote sustainable thinking and action in situations that can be experienced as vividly and directly as possible.

The exhibition STADT.GESCHICHTEN.LABOR. offers a wide range of insights and interactive stations on Norderstedt’s past, present, and future. How long have people lived here? What characterizes the four founding communities? And how did the city come into being? The exhibition answers these and other questions from the thematic areas of democracy, National Socialism, work, housing, and consumption.

The future of Norderstedt is explored especially in the STADTLABOR, a space for exchange, experimentation, and creative design. Visitors are invited to reflect on what makes a city future-proof.

The sustainability goals are also conveyed in a target-group-oriented way through special exhibitions and accompanying events. The museum’s programs are intended to encourage visitors, when making decisions, to consider the effects of their own actions on future generations or on life in other parts of the world.

To strengthen the relevance of the sustainability goals, the museum works together with other educational and cultural institutions. In this way, it not only develops its own educational projects, but also takes part in collaborative projects such as the Norderstedt Ferienpass and the SE-Kulturtage.
