Description

Attention: The museum is under construction. Opening in Spring 2026.

The Suvorov Museum in Schwanden GL is a private, cross-cultural community project by individuals from Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. The museum is NEUTRAL - a place where everyone has been welcome since 1986. Shared history should unite, not divide.

You will be guided through the museum rooms on a tour that chronologically showcases the events of the time, starting with the fall of the Old Swiss Confederacy in 1798, the march of the Russian army from Italy, through Ticino over several Swiss Alpine passes. Memories and current memorials, all the armies involved in this campaign, as well as archaeological finds from the canton of Glarus.

The hardship of the population at the time will also be shown, along with an extensive culture of remembrance from World War II to today´s souvenirs.

The centerpiece will be the monumental painting "Battle of Muotathal" and the Suvorov diorama, which will depict a scene from Altdorf and the Panixerpass with uniformed mannequins.

We look forward to your visit!
