What they inherited from their forefathers ... The Durbachers acquired it not only to own it but also to keep a piece of history alive for visitors of the Wine and Local History Museum. Once, the museum building (built in 1780) was a typical vineyard estate until it served as a refuge for the elderly, the poor, and the sick from 1877 to 1967. Since 1995, the museum has been open to all interested parties. In 13 rooms, including a cooper´s workshop, a distillery and bakery, a mill, and an apiary, the history of more than 700 exhibits is lovingly presented. How could it be otherwise, the Durbachers have primarily kept alive their local history and that of Ebersweier, customs, viticulture, agriculture, forestry, and the history of Staufenberg Castle and the beautiful Melusine. The connection to the present is always prevalent, especially when the courtyard and forecourt are brought to life again during festivals, concerts, or other events.
