Beschreibung
From 1910 the manufactory called “Weberei Tannenhauer” produced fabrics for furniture and decoration until 1990. At peak periods more than 25.000 m² fabrics were produced in two weaving halls in one month. The products of the “Weberei Tannenhauer” were famous worldwide. Many awards and gold medals for their artistic design and shape are a proof for it.Because the technical equipment and machines were out-dated and could not be used anymore in order to stay competitive on the world market according to the new conditions of the reunion and currency union, the production hat to be stopped in 1990. The manufactory was liquidated and assigned back to their former owners, the family Tannenhauer. Due to connections with the development association of the Industrial museum in Chemnitz some weaving machines and equipment could be preserved. So the technical museum of classical weaving technique arose in 1994.Now I would like to invite you to the actual round tour in our Museum.
