Kultur- und Veranstaltungshaus "Alte Mangel"

Beschreibung

"Alte Mangel" is a culturally and historically valuable building for the city of Ebersbach-Neugersdorf and the Upper Lusatia region. It was built between 1767 and 1770 as a residential and farm building. In 1782 it was completed as a factor house in the socalled Umgebinde style and served with the permission of the Princely Saxon for the finishing of linen (ironing and dyeing) by Mister Christian Conrad Gerathewohl. Factors were linen merchants, who at that time provided house weavers with yarns and equipment.

This building, which is well worth seeing, was extensively renovated after the fall of the Berlin Wall and was taken over by the local tourist association and landscape conservation association in year 2000. Since that time, the association has been running the house as a cultural and educational venue and has made it known far beyond the city limits. In "Alte Mangel" various public events are offered for locals and guests, private rentals, weddings, seminars, conferences and more to be organized.

In addition, expert guided tours take place with explanations of the eventful history and the current use of the object in the building. The "Alte Mangel" fulfils a primary task in the segment of heritage preservation and Upper Lusatian customs.
