In the former post office, housed within a traditional Egerland half-timbered courtyard, you’ll find the “Borderland Heritage Rooms” (Grenzlandheimatstuben). Since 1979, Bad Neualbenreuth has been the sponsoring community for the two former villages of Maiersgrün (now Vysoká) and Grafengrün (now Háj), located beyond Mount Tillenberg in today’s Czech Republic.
The former residents of these villages now display here the treasured artifacts they managed to save during their displacement. Among the exhibits are household items, sacred objects, textiles, and historical documents. Some of the pieces—such as the handcrafted embroideries—are over 100 years old, offering a moving glimpse into the everyday life and traditions of their lost homeland.
