[1] The Old Town Hall

Description

In the historic “Old Town Hall,” originally part of the fortifications surrounding the castle district, the city established a municipal museum in 1909. From the 1960s onward, it was managed by a local history society. The museum has now been forced to close, and the building is undergoing renovations in several areas.

Yet the structure itself also merits closer attention. The former gatehouse, together with the adjoining walls, once formed part of the defensive works encircling the castle precinct—known as the Vorburg—and boasts a long and storied past.
