Beschreibung

The first church was built in the 14th century. Only the lower part of the tower remained after the Thirty Years War. The church was rebuilt around 1700, and in 2006 a restoration of the half-timbered church with its gothic window niches on both sides took place. The upper part of the tower is half-timbered. It is noteworthy that the upper part is somewhat narrower than the old lower part from the 14th century. A tower clock is present. The clock mechanism is currently in the tower area. The longhouse made of half timber stands on a foundation of fieldstones, which is approximately 80 cm high. On the cemetery is the grave of J. F. Schecker. Schecker was the estate manager of Guts Jürgenstorf. Schecker was born on 20.09.1775 and died on 18.10.1848 in Jürgenstorf. He served as the model for Fritz Reuter´s book Uncle Bräsig.
