Schieder-Schwalenberg is just picturesque!

Active vacationers and those interested in culture will find a large offer here in an intact landscape: field, forest and meadows as far as the eye can see. Hiking trails through woods and marshland open up surprisingly awesome views for active tourists. Cyclists will also find well-signposted routes for smaller and larger discovery tours. The "SchiederSee" leisure centre offers guests and locals alike a wide range of fun, action and exercise for the whole family. The baroque castle of Schieder, the former summer residence of the Lippe princes and its baroque garden and park grounds are the core of the climatic health resort Schieder / Glashütte.  

Arranged around the castle hill of the old Schwalenburg, the district of Schwalenberg offers a picture of an era long gone by. Surrounded by a gentle hilly landscape and embedded in meadows and mountains you can still feel the touch of the Middle Ages in Schwalenberg. Art and culture have a long tradition here. Historic, mostly listed half-timbered buildings are characteristic of Schwalenberg. The parish church of St. John the Baptist, the historic town hall, the castle and the Jewish cemetery stand out. Numerous painters left their marks on the former artists' colony. Two pilgrimage routes and the German Fairy Tale Road lead through Schwalenberg. The Städtische Galerie/City Gallery and the Robert-Koepke-Haus offer constantly changing exhibitions.
