Beschreibung

Duisburg's inner harbour used to be known as the 'breadbasket of the Ruhr' due to its massive grain handling. With the decline of the grain mills at the end of the 1960s, the decline of what was then Duisburg's inner harbour was inevitable. From the mid-1990s, the transformation work began according to plans by the British star architect Sir Norman Foster. Today, Duisburg's inner harbour invites you to take a stroll past a variety of bistros, cafés and restaurants. Those interested in culture will find impressive museums in converted old warehouse buildings.
