Station: [8] Ticket Office

The large print behind the cashier’s desk shows the Johann Neusch cigar firm based in Herbolzheim. The main plant is in the middle of the picture, while the surrounding images show the branches in local communities.

This gives a good insight into how the factory buildings were typically designed. Note the distinctive vertical rows of tall windows. An edict issued by the Grand Duchy of Baden laid down rules requiring the rooms to be well ventilated.

Many factories built to this characteristic design are still standing in the surrounding villages today.

Now, please take the stairs down to the lower factory floor.
