Building culture begins at the village entrance

Traditional elements of the region designed in Pop Art style.
In 2004, as part of an initiative by the community of Banzkow in cooperation with the University of Wismar, the entrances to Banzkow were designed using traditional elements in a Pop Art style. The design elements for these village entrances were established in 2007. Piece by piece, a project was realized that the community representatives, together with architecture students from the University of Wismar, tackled in 2003 and had discussed multiple times with many residents. We want not only tourists who are already in Banzkow to get excited about the design of the village entrances, but also to tempt other travelers to visit Banzkow precisely because of its special village entrances, and not just pass through. Even though art often finds not only admirers but also critics, we are confident that the inhabitants of Banzkow are proud of their unusual village entrances.
