[4] Neubrandenburger Straße Nr. 6

Description

The Neubrandenburger Street opens up the old town of Stavenhagen from coming off the B104 starting at the Färberteich and ends at the market. A car park at this entrance to the old town provides several parking spots, making the market, the boulevard, and the castle easily accessible on foot. The renovation of the street and car park took place in the years 2000 and 2001 for a total of 137 thousand euros. A picture from the city archive shows Neubrandenburger Street around 1930. The historically certified design principle was also applied during the renovation of Neubrandenburger Street. The grey square pavement slab is laid out diagonally - as in many other parts of the city. However, small granite cobblestones were used for the road as the existing large cobblestones could not provide the necessary evenness for the street. In 2021, the Building No. 6 on Neubrandenburger Street was fully modernized as an architecturally significant building. The renovation of the street-side facade and the roof was supported with urban development funding. The hitherto inconspicuous building found a new owner in 2020. She particularly liked the target positioning for the building renovation prepared for the previous owner. The necessary construction measures are presented there through a sketch with textual specifications. These were to be fully implemented. Only the color design was adapted according to the owner´s wishes. By closely coordinating with the owner, construction companies, the master planner, and the tree office, the renovation goal was achieved and the house has become a feast for the eyes in the street scene. A historical photo served as the template for the design goal. The building from the founding period with abundant facade decorations could be seen on it. The existing building had no connection to its original design. Thus, windows that were installed before 1990 were used and the plaster facade was devoid of any decoration. During the renovation, the new smooth plaster facade was structured with profiled eave and belt cornices. The 2 lying windows were now changed to standing formats. 3 four-winged windows with stile and mullion were installed on the upper floor. The openings were surrounded with profiled lesenes and provided with an additional central adornment. The ground floor received 2 uniformly designed wooden windows and a new symmetric entrance door with a large skylight. The created rustication plaster and the panels below the windows are sufficient decoration here, additional lesenes were not necessary. For the color design, the decorative elements were highlighted by setting them off in a lighter color. Ultimately, window sills and cornices were given a sheet metal cover with a rolled edge as weather protection.
