Zwölfgipfelblick @Christian Dörsch

Beschreibung

The Zwölfgipfelblick is a panoramic 602 m high hill inside the Fichtelgebirge horseshoe. Twelve mountain peaks of the Fichtelgebirge can be seen from here: Großer Kornberg, Epprechtstein, Großer Waldstein, Rudolfstein, Schneeberg, Nußhardt, Seehügel, Platte, Hohe Matze, Kösseine, Großer Haberstein and Burgstein. It is therefore considered the geographical center of the Fichtelgebirge. The hill was important for the Röslau water supply for a long time. There was a water tank on it, which supplied the house connections with drinking water thanks to the natural gradient. After the water tank was abandoned, teacher Wunderlich and his confirmation students created a small park in 1953. In 1992, the municipality of Röslau erected a granite rock there, adorned with an octagonal stone slab made of blue Kösseine granite. This bears the inscription "Center of the Fichtelgebirge Röslau" as well as the river names "Main, Saale, Eger and Naab". Today, in addition to the granite rock, there is also a playground and an information board about the 12 peaks at the viewpoint.
