The Eger waterfall in the Thuswald in Röslau is a relic of the industrialization of the late 19th century. Oskar Böttcher tapped into a source of energy by building a two-and-a-half kilometer long canal to operate a turbine, and founded the cardboard factory in Thus in 1886. The water of the Eger fell about thirty meters onto the paddle wheels of the turbine, which is still in operation today. The Eger waterfall is the overflow of the canal. Böttcher's entrepreneurial efforts led to the creation of the idyllic gem in the Thuswald, which as early as 1923, captivated the people of Röslau. They created a natural stage in the Thuswald, on which they performed the operetta "Die Winzerliesel" in front of approximately two thousand spectators in 1923 and 1924. The operetta performances were not continued, but since 1928, on every Pentecost Sunday, the people of Röslau use the Thuswald to celebrate their forest festival. From noon, a brass band used to play in front of the town hall, attracting the people of Röslau with a stand concert. A cart from the Arzberger brewery in Oberröslau stood ready with beer barrels, beer benches and liter mugs. Guests and beer cart moved together, following the music, to celebrate in the Thuswald.
