Description
House Feldweg in Hirsau, now Hotel Kloster Hirsau. Walks along the meadow path by the Nagold river to Hirsau were part of the Hesse family´s traditional Sunday routine. The destination of such excursions was the home of road inspector Georg Heinrich Feldweg (1812-1895), whose daughter Johanna Beate (1855-1935) married Hesse´s uncle David Gundert (1850-1945) in her second marriage. Gundert was the commission agent of the Calwer Verlagsbuchhandlung publishing house in Stuttgart and founder and director of the D. Gundert publishing house in Stuttgart.
