Schloss Eggmühl

Beschreibung

The former lowland castle (referring here to a castle located in the plains) initially belonged to the stewards (meaning the head of the court administration) of Heilsberg and the Lords of Eggmühl, and around 1333, to the steward Ulrich the Leublfinger. In about 1475, the castle housed the bailiff's court of the Dukes of Bavaria. In 1812, the castle was owned by Count Montgelas, and in 1834, it was in the possession of the Princes of Thurn and Taxis. Alterations and extensions were repeatedly carried out. Already in the 20th century, the castle was converted into a retirement home. Even today, it is used by the BRK as a senior citizens' home. Varied events take place in the senior citizens' home, to which all interested parties are warmly invited.
