The gallery „Haus Bachrach“ is located in an over 400-years-old, listed (as a monumenmt) half-timbered house in the centre of Schwalenberg’s old town.
The name commemorates the last private owners, the Jewish Bachrach family, who fell victim to the November pogroms of 1938. Since 2018, the city of Schieder-Schwalenberg has made the ground floor rooms available to the „Kunstverein Schieder-Scwalenberg e.V.“ (art club) for exhibitions of regional, contemporary art from all areas. In addition, readings, lectures and table discussions take place, in which the diverse art and cultural events in rural areas will be presented.
