The memorial for the fallen of the First World War commemorates the 700 Wurzeners who did not return from this war. On May 10 and 11, 1930, the monument was inaugurated on the Old Cemetery in honor of the fallen of the First World War. The city owes this building to the honorary citizen Hermann Ilgen and his foundation, who made the financing of this memorial possible. The artistic direction was taken over by the well-known sculptor and graphic artist Georg Wrba.
