After the demolition of the Eilenburg Gate, the so-called Ratsfronfeste was no longer available, only this building, which is older than the current town hall, could be used as the city’s prison. The separate building, still preserved from the 17th century, is divided into three parts and covers an area of 6.60 x 3.00 m. An iron stove, barred windows, locking devices with a flap and a peephole remind us of its former purpose.
