A magnificent example of North German brick Gothic is the former home and administration building of the archdeaconry, deputy of the bishop in the church in the Middle Ages. Of particular importance is the richly structured stepped gable decorated with wind holes on the north side of the building, which was built around 1407/1408. In addition to the St. Mary's church tower, the extensively renovated Archdeaconry is now the last medieval building on Marienkirchplatz.
