The Catholic parish church of St. Wolfgang is located on a hillside on the southern outskirts of Mickhausen. . The building, which dates from 1535 to 1538, was refurnished in the 17th century and changed again in the 18th century.The church was built as a successor to a chapel that had been built near the castle in 1507. In 1528, Raimund Fugger had acquired the lordships of Mickhausen and Münster from the lords of Freyberg. The client of the new building on the outskirts of the village was Anton Fugger, the old chapel was demolished.In 1755 Johann Ludwig Fugger had the church renovated (inscription on the chancel arch). A major restoration was carried out in 1945/46.In 2013 and 2014, the roof was renovated and the church was given a new coat of paint. The parish church is surrounded by the walled parish cemetery. AltarsThe high altar (1685) was designed by the Augsburg carpenter Gregor Schwamberger. Two marbled columns with Corinthian capitals flank the altarpiece depicting Christ´s Descent from the Cross. In the middle stands St. Wolfgang, the roof angels carry the instruments of suffering. In between, smaller angel figures strike the bells of a clock.Andreas Bergmüller´s side altars (1725) are also made of marbled wood. Two pairs of columns flank niches with carved groups of figures. Our Lady of the left side altar is of modern origin. In the curly fields of the excerpts, St. Barbara and St. Catherine (right) and St. Margaret and St. Vitus are depicted.PulpitThe pulpit was built in 1756 from stucco marbleSculpturesIn the choir, to the left and right of the high altar, there are two crosses from the first half of the 18th century. On the chancel arch a console bears a small St. Sebastian. A larger depiction of the saint can be seen under the west gallery. These sculptures were also created in the 18th century. The most important piece of equipment is the large Madonna in the Rosary above the choir entrance. The Blessed Mother is surrounded by angels. The group is a foundation of the administrator of the nursing officeJakob Micheler, whose coat of arms was placed under the main figure.TombIn the floor of the choir lies Paul Fugger´s gravestone made of Solnhofen limestone.
