It is a place where visitors and locals can learn about the history of the place and the way of life of previous generations. This building, located on the corner of Uhrturmgasse and Hauptstraße, is also known as the French School.
It corresponded to an extension school, comparable to today's Realschule, where the French language was also taught.
The building was built in 1854/55 in the so-called "Oldenburg Classicism".
Upstairs was the classroom. In the basement were the bakehouse and the market hall.
Every 1st weekend in November, at the Martinimarkt, the bakehouse is heated up and fresh bread is baked according to an old recipe.
