SCHLOSSWEG 17 (BÄCKER-HANNICKELS)

Beschreibung

The house name "Bäcker-Hannickels" can be traced back to a baker Johann Nikolaus Reichardt (1778 - 1862). The baker's sign, the pretzels, can still be seen on the neoclassical front door. Like many bakers, Johann Nikolaus Reichardt also practiced the craft of beer brewer. In the first half of the 19th century, there were 6 beer producers in Herrstein prove. All Herrstein brewers also ran a small inn and farm. In the past, the pump next to the front door was used to supply water to the residents. The house was built in 1692.
