St. Jakobus-Kirche (1911)

Beschreibung

The church, built in 1911, skillfully combines Romanesque and Baroque elements into a new neo-Romanesque architectural style. This historicism (Art Nouveau) is especially evident in the brightly colored windows. The high altar, created in 1915 specifically for the church, is a unique piece. With its brick architecture, the church pioneers Expressionism for the first time in the Diocese of Münster. Parts of the Baroque furnishings from the precursor church at Burgring (now a memorial site) still remain. In 2021/2022, the church was renovated and remodeled, and a new parish hall was built next to the church. In the process, the last bay of the church was incorporated into the church space as a community hall.Viewing: open daily. Guided tours available upon request.Address and Contact:St. James ChurchJakobi Street 446354 Südlohn-OedingParish Office St. JakobusWinterswyker Str.246354 SüdlohnPhone: +49(0)2862 – 6277E-Mail: stvitusustjakobus-suedlohn@bistum-muenster.deWebsite: https://www.kath-kirche-suedlohn.de
