The Köthen zoo in the heart of the Fasanerie invites you to visit with the whole family in summer and winter. Numerous native wild and domestic animal species, including ibex, lynx and red deer, but also many exotic contemporaries such as Bennett´s kangaroos and Barbary macaques, await visitors.In 1884, an enclosure with golden, silver and hunting pheasants was opened to visitors on the site of a former pheasantry. This developed into today´s zoo. The Köthen zoo is run by Tierpark Köthen - anno 1884 gGmbH under the management of Michael Engelmann. Both native and exotic animals are kept in a series of aviaries and many outdoor enclosures. A total of almost 400 animals of 125 species live here. These include Barbary macaques, which have found a new home in the aviary near the entrance, marmosets, Bennett´s kangaroos, lynxes, various species of pig, skunks, alpine ibexes, polar wolves and many more.www.tierpark-koethen.de
