A few hundred years ago, the small village of Krames near Klausen belonged to the parish of St Michael in Piesport, along with other villages. Parishioners from outside the parish had to come to the parish church for marriages and christenings. At that time, the church stood in the middle of the vineyards. A small chapel, called "Michels Kirche", still reminds us of the location today. People from out of town liked to celebrate in Piesport on such occasions, as there were often family ties and friendships. But it was particularly important that the Moselle wine could be savoured on the spot.
It was not uncommon for the greatest stories to be told at these celebrations:
"A progenitor is born in the family of a rich farmer from Krames, and so a few days later - without the woman who has recently given birth - the proud father goes to the parish village with godfather and godmother, the midwife and a few acquaintances to have the child baptised there. After the holy ceremony, the family went to the house of a well-known winegrower to celebrate the child's baptism.
