Haus Hoffmann

Beschreibung

The house at "Kettergasse 24" was built around 1600. The upper part of the protruding stair tower is half-timbered and is crowned by a canopy roof. The building is similar to the Lobüscher house (Am Kirchplatz 2) and probably belonged to the manor of the Hunolstein bailiffs. In the Middle Ages, the bailiffs had large estates here. The respective steward of the bailiwick probably lived in this building.
In the past, households had to pay taxes in kind to the lordship. The "wine tithe" was taken to the nearby "Weinplatz" on the "Römerstraße", reloaded there and transported on to the wine cellar at Hunolstein Castle. After the Hunolstein bailiffs, the farm became the property of the Archbishopric of Trier.
