The district of Sackenbach was first mentioned in writing in 1360. In the late 19th century, the railway viaduct was built, which still characterizes the village's appearance today.
Sackenbach extends to the banks of the Main river. The beautifully landscaped water treading pool is a popular rest and picnic spot for numerous cyclists traveling on the MainRadweg (cycle path) during summer. Also worth seeing is the "Füllhorn" show garden, also located directly on the banks of the Main river. Hiking to the Sohlhöhe or the Franziskushöhe is also popular.
