Beschreibung

With the construction of the Main Bridge from local red sandstone in 1875, the previously existing ferry between Lohr and Sendelbach becomes obsolete. The bridge now connects the Spessart region (right bank of the Main) with the Franconian Plateau (left bank of the Main) and at that time is the only Main bridge in the entire vicinity. The people of Lohr financed the construction of the bridge by felling and selling the ancient oaks in the city forest.
