[121] The Crown Inn - Oldest Inn in Lohr

Description

The Crown Inn, located at Lohrtorstraße 2, is the oldest inn in Lohr and features a Renaissance portal dating back to 1589.
It is one of the few private houses covered with slate, at least in the front area. Slate was very expensive as it had to be transported from Bacharach am Rhein all the way here. The timber framing has a gray hue because the wood was treated with lime to protect it from weathering.
