Sendelbach was long considered "foreign territory" for the residents of Lohr who were under the jurisdiction of Mainz. Situated on the opposite side of the Main River, Sendelbach belonged to the Hochstift Würzburg. Until 1875, Sendelbach could only be reached from Lohr by ferry. It was only then that the old Main Bridge was built, which still provides access to the city center today.
The municipal school museum is located in Sendelbach and welcomes many visitors. A visit to the two large playgrounds directly on the banks of the Main River is relaxing, especially in summer. Nature enthusiasts can hike in the "Romberg" nature reserve and discover an exciting nature trail. Cyclists enjoy views of the historic Lohr city center and the Main River directly from the MainRadweg (cycle path).
