The neo-Baroque church, dedicated to Saint Boniface, was built in the years 1928/1929 and was designed by the architect Johann Adam Rüppel from Stockstadt. It was one of the last churches to be built in this architectural style of the so-called Historicism. In the final days of the war in 1945, Sackenbach was destroyed to 80%. The church was also affected. Reconstruction and renovation continued until the 1950s.
