[602] Church of St. Josef the Bridegroom

Description

The parish church in Steinbach is a gem, belonging to the few purely Baroque churches in Franconia, and was completed in 1721 after just three years of construction. The patrons of the church were Franz von Hutten, the Würzburg Cathedral Dean and Provost of Stift Haug, who served as Prince-Bishop of Würzburg from 1724 to 1729, and his brother Franz Ludwig von Hutten, the then patron of Steinbach. The church features a three-axle facade with an inset tower. The upper part of the tower is octagonal in shape.
