Eiergassenplatz

Beschreibung

During the holiday season from Easter to the Martini market in November, there is a bench on this square. An old woman with 2 chickens and a rooster is carved into it. It is said that an old woman once lived in this alley and lured the neighbors' chickens into her coop. After the chickens had laid their eggs in the old woman's coop, she chased them back to the home coops to eat. That's why the part of Uhrturmgasse that branches off to the right behind the clock tower is popularly called "Eiergasse".
A special highlight is the town centre on the 2nd weekend in September each year. That's when the Schinderhannes Robbers' Festival takes place. Medieval market hustle and bustle with craftsmen, jugglers and music groups will take you back in time. Of course, raids by the Schinderhannes gang are not to be missed. The market enjoys national fame and attracts thousands of visitors every year.
