The church of Wollenhagen, an early Gothic fieldstone building, is one of the oldest places of worship in the region. However, it has been significantly altered by numerous restorations without regard to preserving the historical structure, so that little of its original character remains today. Good intentions did not translate into good actions. The plastered tower, supported by flying buttresses, the subsequently inserted tower portal, the greatly changed windows, the church nave raised with bricks - all these are architectural sins that have negatively altered the overall exterior impression of the house of God. The interior of the church is all the more interesting; on the north wall are well-preserved late Gothic wall paintings. Framed in squares, they portray scenes from Christ's childhood and depictions of his Passion. Also worth seeing are two stained glass windows featuring the apostles John and Andrew. They were created around 1900 and became part of the church during a restoration.
