Dorfkirche Lüffingen

Beschreibung

The Church of Lüffingen, a late Romanesque fieldstone building, has not changed its appearance over the centuries. A restoration that became necessary around 1815 due to the dilapidation of the church was carried out so carefully that the historical building fabric largely remained preserved. The church houses valuable sacred art objects within its walls. Particularly noteworthy is the beautiful late Gothic carved altar. In its central shrine, we see the enthroned Mary with the Baby Jesus, flanked by Saint Margaret and Saint Ottilia. They are each accompanied by two apostle figures in the wings. Also noteworthy is the baroque baptismal font created by Mathias Baleke in 1711 with its angel heads. Finally, the remains of the Gothic choir stalls are worth mentioning. They possibly did not initially belong to the church's furnishings. Instead, it is believed that they were originally in the church of the Cistercian convent Neuendorf.
