Description

The Johanniterhaus "Pfarrer Franz" is named after the Gardelegen pastor Friedrich Franz, who was instrumental in the peaceful surrender of the city to the US Americans in 1945. In the predecessor building of the current nursing home, Carl Koch began the production of mother-of-pearl buttons in 1841, thus marking the beginnings of industrialization in Gardelegen.
