Description

The Great Hospital originated from a foundation of a Gardelegen nobleman, probably as early as 1300. The hospital was set up for the reception of 10 elderly and needy citizens. In the early 19th century, the hospital accommodated "unmarried frail bourgeois daughters". Nowadays, the Gardelegen Water Association, various clubs and the state school authority have their headquarters there.
