Station: [19] Per Kirkeby, Læsø-Kopf II, 1983
Per Kirkeby feels at home in many art forms and mediums. He is first and foremost known as painter. Then he created a number of brick sculptures for public spaces. And finally his theoretical occupation with two sculptors from the 19th century led him to work in bronze. Studying the work of Auguste Rodin considerably inspired him to portray the interaction of modeled surfaces and the relationship between inside and outside spaces. Læsø is the name of an island in the Great belt, where Per Kirkeby maintains a studio and spends the summer.
